Step 1 - Select location

Course content

  • Module 1 – Legislation, subject matter, scope and definitions. How the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 work together, what data and organisations the Regulation covers, and the core definitions used throughout: data subject, personal data, processing, controller and processor.
  • Module 2 – Data processing principles. The six data processing principles, the accountability principle, lawful bases for processing, and the additional safeguards required for special category data such as health data.
  • Module 3 – Rights of data subjects. The eight individual rights under the Regulation, including the right to be informed, right of access, right to erasure and right to object, plus how to handle a data subject access request.
  • Module 4 – Controller and processor. Core obligations including data protection by design, contracts between controllers and processors, records of processing, breach notification, data protection impact assessments, and when a data protection officer is required.
  • Module 5 – International data transfers. The conditions for transferring personal data outside the UK, including adequacy decisions and safeguarding mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses.
  • Module 6 – The Information Commissioner’s Office. The ICO’s powers and role in providing guidance and enforcement.
  • Module 7 – Remedies, liabilities and penalties. Data subjects’ rights to complain and seek compensation, and the two-tier fine structure under the Regulation.

There are no prerequisites for purchasing this training course. However, you will be sent pre-reading material 20 days before your course begins, which we strongly recommend completing in advance.

Exam information

Attendees take the UK GDPR F exam set by IBITGQ (International Board for IT Governance Qualifications). There is no extra charge for this exam.

The assessment is delivered online and lasts 60 minutes.

Can exams be retaken?

Yes, if you are unsuccessful on the first attempt, you can retake the exam for an additional fee.

Qualifications

Those that pass the exam will earn the UK GDPR F qualification – recognised by employers worldwide.

Great Base-level course that gives learners a full day of delivery and plenty of insight into the world of GDPR and Governance. It is recommended that if considering training at any level, you should look no further than IT Governance. Really enjoyable but intensive training course with a lot of material to cover in the day. Having said this, the trainer Andrew Snow is adept at getting all the information across in a passionate and effective way that delegates have enough knowledge to pass the exam - Really good high quality course materials, the course thoroughly prepares me for the upcoming Practitioner course that I am looking forward to - Recommended and easily considered value for money
