Step 1 - Select location

Course content

  • Module 1 – Legislation, subject matter, scope and definitions. How the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 work together, what data and organisations the Regulation covers, and the core definitions used throughout: data subject, personal data, processing, controller and processor.
  • Module 2 – Data processing principles. The six data processing principles, the accountability principle, lawful bases for processing, and the additional safeguards required for special category data such as health data.
  • Module 3 – Rights of data subjects. The eight individual rights under the Regulation, including the right to be informed, right of access, right to erasure and right to object, plus how to handle a data subject access request.
  • Module 4 – Controller and processor. Core obligations including data protection by design, contracts between controllers and processors, records of processing, breach notification, data protection impact assessments, and when a data protection officer is required.
  • Module 5 – International data transfers. The conditions for transferring personal data outside the UK, including adequacy decisions and safeguarding mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses.
  • Module 6 – The Information Commissioner’s Office. The ICO’s powers and role in providing guidance and enforcement.
  • Module 7 – Remedies, liabilities and penalties. Data subjects’ rights to complain and seek compensation, and the two-tier fine structure under the Regulation.

There are no prerequisites for purchasing this training course. However, you will be sent pre-reading material 20 days before your course begins, which we strongly recommend completing in advance.

Exam information

Attendees take the UK GDPR F exam set by IBITGQ (International Board for IT Governance Qualifications). There is no extra charge for this exam.

The assessment is delivered online and lasts 60 minutes.

Can exams be retaken?

Yes, if you are unsuccessful on the first attempt, you can retake the exam for an additional fee.

Qualifications

Those that pass the exam will earn the UK GDPR F qualification – recognised by employers worldwide.

Really good quality training course - great overview of the GDPR and DPA delivered by a great trainer in Andrew Snow - answered all questions put to him and highlighted several key real life scenarios to inject context into the course. I really liked that he also double-checked peoples' understanding before moving on to new sections of the material. Really pleased with a solid exam result and would have no hesitation in recommending this training course.

Intense course - recommend delegates take the time to look through the pre-course materials which are of a high quality. The trainer delivered the course with enthusiasm and injected humour which made lighter work of a dry subject matter and increased my enjoyment of the course. Andrew Snow, the trainer, was wonderful - he covered everything needed during a really full-on training day - demonstrated brilliant knowledge of the subject, covered plenty of real world examples and was supported by strong and high quality learning materials - can certainly recommend - Only reason not a 5 star review is I would have preferred the naturally higher level of interaction gained through classroom attendance - Recommended
